In the backyard: Tickle Me Elmo (except the RGs didn't go out there today)
On the living room floor: a used diaper
In the guest room: A nekkid kid
In the bathroom: a puddle on the floor... by the toilet

Too
Each night J and I sit between the RGs' beds and lead them in prayer. We follow the same formula every time. This allows Em and Roo to participate, as they know what comes next. We start with some specifics about the day, or the day to come, and anything special on our hearts. Then, we pray for family.
The girls each have a prayer book. It is a photo album of family members that we pray for nightly. We name the people in the same order each evening. And finally, we thank God for the gift of His son, Jesus, and say "amen".
Almost every night for the last six weeks Roo has ad-libbed. She seems to have certain people on her heart and she's quite admandent that they be prayed for several times. One of those people is my grandfather, Dubbie, who passed away in June of this year. Usually, Roo says, "Dubbie, too!" and then, "Nannie, too!" So, we pray extra blessings upon Nannie as she copes with life after loss.
I've come to think of heavy prayer needs as "too's". Those needs that must be mentioned more often, without ceasing.
In this video, we're already half way through the prayer. Nannie, Nana, Grandpa and Marmee, Pappaw and Mammaw and Aunt Kaki have all been prayed for. Next on deck are Aunt Joy and Uncle Mike. But, Roo wants to make sure Nannie gets some extra prayers.

orchestral tutorial
This book is Roo's current favorite. She spends a lot of time flipping through the pages and identifying all her favorite Muppets and their activities.
Roo started bringing the book to me a couple of weeks ago requesting, "Book. Read?", and opening to this page.
The expectation was for me to repeat after her while she told me who was who. Because Roo recognizes violins and knows it represents a word that begins with a V, she also pointed out that the Count was playing a "bio-win". So, I began telling her about the instruments being played by the other orchestra members.
And now, may I present, the Sesame Street Orchestra Tutorial by Roo, translated by Mom and Dad.

Backpacking through Toyland
Em and Roo rediscovered their backpacks today. And proceeded to wear them most of the morning.
Em kept hers stocked with gear for her baby. Mostly old NICU bottles and the like.
She also ran races while pushing her stroller around. Here she is on the starting block.
Roo accessorized.
She likes the idea of wearing her shades on her head, but hasn't quite mastered the look.
In Roo's pack... a fairy wand and Bert. Good ole buddy Bert.
My favorite moments of the morning were these...
Watching Roo build a tower while counting, "Tower 1. Tower 2. Tower 3. Tower 4", as she stacked each piece.
And then turning around to see that Em had grabbed her breakfast leftovers and brought them in for a snack. Sesame Street was on and was featuring a short film about kids that are sad. All the filmed kids were crying and Em was making a sympathetic face. Very believable.

Last Week
Seems like a lot has gone on this past week, but I don't have much to show for it.
One highlight, though, was a lunch date with Daddy. Here he is escorting his girls.
Goodness, how they loved this!
I know I made chocolate chip cookies because I have the pictures to prove it. But no cookies remain. Em and Roo had their first taste of raw cookie dough.
Em went to town and became one with the mixer paddle.
Roo, being more cautious, didn't dive right in. She tentavively dipped a finger into the dough and carefully put it to her lips. And then rinsed and repeated. I left the paddle on the island for her to discover on her own. I promise, had I given it to her, it would have been pushed aside and never tried. Roo is quite independent right now, especially regarding her food.
And she's following in her Daddy's footsteps. Always Prepared. Notice the toothbrush in her hand?

Milestone Marker - Roo's Turn
Roo used the potty tonight!
She was taking a bath and told J "potty". So, he asked her if she had to go and she stood up. He pulled her out of the tub and set her on the potty and... well...
she peed!
He said he thinks he freaked her out a little with his
crazy-yippee-woohoo-highfiving-fistbumpin' celebration.
But, then he clued in and took it down a notch. And Roo started clapping along with him.
I gave her a sticker. Which Em bogarted.
No big deal though. Roo's not much of a sticker gal. She's got a higher price tag.
Sesame Street finger puppets from the Smithsoniam museum in D.C. *ehem.. Marmee?*
Then, at bedtime, Roo read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom to us. Recited it from memory, but was turning the pages at the apporpriate times. And was following along with the words. So, I have no doubt that she knows which words are which. About 85% of them, at least.
Which... is... reading. Right?

Sea World Travelers
Sea World, at the end of October, with two little people experiencing the whole thing for the first time... Absolutely Priceless.
We had the best time with Marmee and Grandpa at Sea World! The girls can't stop talking about the dolphins and swimming and splashing. I have hope that this may, in fact, become one of their earliest memories.
It was a beautiful day, the weather was perfect. There were butterflies everywhere. Not people. The park was just starting to fill up as we were leaving. That's the way we like it!
The shows were great. Em and Roo were completely enamored by the performances.
My only regret is that we did not get a family picture with the four of us, Grandpa and Marmee all together. To make up for that, we have almost 300 photos and videos to memorialize the day. Thanks, Grandpa!
