We. Are. Family.

The RG family joined our local Mothers of Multiples group on a weekend photo "safari". Meaning, the saintly photographer set up camp for 2 days and photographed some 50 families. Of multiples. Twins and Triplets for the most part. Did I mention that he's a saint?

We took the opportunity to have a family portrait made.
As well as the girls' 2nd birthday portraits.
It was all very informal and relaxed, which was the ideal way to capture our family.
We ARE the definition of informal.

This is the family photo I finally decided on.

This is the one that cracks me up the most. Was J singing? Look at Roo's expression!
And I think Em is holding her ears (or pooping).

I only had one photo printed of the girls. And this is it.
The following pictures were so fun that I had to buy the proof cd.
So we can always enjoy them.

The RGs had a great time with the new sprinkler today. It was a great excuse, too, to try out the new water shoes and swim suits. And yes, I did opt to put them in swim diapers today. Fool me once...

J and I never could have dreamed this one up.

the opposite of green

It was Family Fun Friday (a new thing I just made up for this blog post) and we took the RGs to Zilker Park. Where we almost got to be in a commercial being filmed on the playscape. (Meaning, Em ran into the filming area no fewer than 17 times). And we almost rode the kiddy train, the Zilker Zephyr, but the next 2 rides were full. Sounds exciting, huh? We're just a wild and crazy family. But we did follow through and take the girls swimming at Barton Springs Pool.

We camped at the far side and walked down and around to enter the water at its most shallow point.
Em was born for the water and took off with J in hot pursuit.

Roo was not thrilled with the cool temperatures and stood and shrieked for a while. I stayed with her and we settled on a spot about 6 inches deep. We sat and splashed and sang "woe woe woe" (your boat gently down the stream...) 96 times. And Roo checked out all the flora and fauna floating by.

Em headed to the deep end and didn't mind the cold a bit. She and Daddy had a lot of fun, too.

They were pretty tired by the time I took this picture. Roo is eating a smuggled Ritz bit (no food inside the swimming area).
Really, though, smuggled food was the least of Barton Springs Pool's problem regarding the RG family.

Look a little full does it?

Ya see, I made the executive decision to not change them into swim diapers and leave them in their regular dipes. There is a holding capacity on those suckers. And we exceeded it.

This is a GALLON ziplock bag.


Not a quart bag. The diapers were that big. And Em's actually exploded while she was wearing it (after we got out of the water).

We made a quick escape after picking up all the exploded diaper bits that dribbled onto the grass. We are the anti-green. Very embarrassing.

Roo has a shoe obsession.


She loves to rummage about in her sock and shoe drawer and select the perfect footwear.


Often, she stops her current activity, disappears into her room for a moment and returns, shoes in hand. She always selects a matching pair.
Sort of.
For example, she'll bring me two (mock) Crocs, but one is her right shoe and the other is Em's right shoe.
But she wants to wear them. NOW! And nothing else will do.
So, I put the shoes on her feet and Roo happily stomps around until it's time to change into the next pair.

Sometimes she insists on wearing them to bed. Usually those are her monkey house shoes.


Though, once she wore her Crocs for a nap. And once she just snuggled with them. And sometimes she has strong feelings about her socks.
They. Must. Stay. On.
And other times, she's more than content to navigate about barefooted.
I don't think it's coincidental that her favorite page in OLIVIA Counts is 7.
