Bowerbird

See any similarities?

Just sayin'...

*and the science educator in me compels me to share this video, too

"Be Prepared"

It's the Boy Scout motto. And the twin mom's, too.

Concluding a successful grocery shopping trip, Em and Roo were both gifted with balloons by an employee at the checkout aisle.
Happiness, thy name is Helium Filled Balloon.

It was all going great until I loaded Roo and balloon into the car seat. Em was still in the grocery cart, with the groceries and her balloon. I was multitasking like a maniac.

I had a foot hooked around the base of the cart, my booty holding the car door open, my head keeping Roo's balloon in the car and everything else was wrestling a toddler into seatbelt straps. Then, Em started W-A-I-L-I-N-G.

She was fine. The balloon was gone. Inconsolable is the only appropriate description.

I got Em into her car seat. She promptly grabbed Roo's balloon and staked claim.

Not cool.

Roo is now inconsolable. Plus, I've tied the balloon to Roo's car seat straps to keep it out of my way while driving, so Em can't really hold onto it like she wants. Make that two screaming kids now.

I popped open my trusty pink Swiss Army knife that is always on my key chain and cut it loose from Roo's seat.

But, the elephant was still in the room, so to speak. Wailing continued.

So I did it.

Yep. I popped the balloon.

OhnotheballoonisgoneNOW...let's turn on the dvd player in the car!
And I'll unload the groceries from the cart (if they're even still there by this time), put the cart up, get back in the car, drive us home, take you in the house, unload the groceries and pass out.

A sad little tear sliding down Em's cheek

Way Back Wednesday

Thinking back today and wanted to share some pictures that will always make me laugh. Hard.

Candy Stripes

Roo and Em.

Fat. Happy. Drooly. Cute.

Then. Two seconds later...

It Wasn't Me!

I LOVE the expression on Roo's face.

"Huh? What? Not me!"

And Em's cry baby face makes me cry. With laughter!

I suspect that this is what happened during the interval between the two pictures.

Biting Sissy

Roo had a bad habit of sharpening her tooth on Em's available parts. Ouch.
Do you love how I kept taking pictures instead of comforting my distraught child?

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

And so it begins

Yes. That is the dog door. Roo was through it before I could grab a camera.

And once Em saw her twin go through, she wasn't about to be left behind.

And speaking of behinds...
How 'bout that cute baby plumber's crack in the second photo?

PPPM... everyone is doing it

Oh Boy! Did they had fun today. And maybe I had a little fun, too.

It was Pretty Pretty Princess Monday (PPPM). And you know what that means.

It was time to break out the tutus, tiaras and fairy wings.

Oh. Lordy. The cuteness. Can you stand it?

Ladies Who Lunch

The girls enjoyed lunch at Chick Fil A today.

Completely, Extremely Enjoyed.

The chicken nuggets and fruit cup were devoured post-haste.

Then, we brought out the fries.

Never underestimate a toddler's love for potatoes. Em, in particular, adores them.

She patted her French fry, as if it were a baby. She smiled at it. And blew it kisses.

Then, she ate it.

Because Roo was finished with hers and moving in on the fry.

As my sis would say, "Tee-Licious!"

We Heart Valentine's

First thing this morning, we broke out the Valentine's gifts.

Roo with her new Abby Cadabby water bottle. Very tiny and very cute.

Em with her new Abby C. backpack. It's just her size!

Roo with all her Heart Day schwag. Headband compliments of Marmee and Grandpa.
*It's next to impossible to snag a good picture when Jack's Big Music Show is playing. Now that is important stuff.

An hour later, it's still cool to play with the new loot. We have a hit!

Reflecting

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day. We'll give the girls their gifts in the morning. And take a picture or two. Probably. That we might post here. Maybe.

I was reflecting on 2007 and the fun Valentine's pictures we took of Em and Roo.
Would you like to see them? Please?

Oh, come on!!!

Well, here they are anyway.

Who needs candy when you have cheeks like these to smooch on?

Em still manages this same expression when she gets in trouble

We called this one "Eye of the Tiger" Roo still does this, too.

Are you in sugar shock yet from the sweetness?

Airport security will have a GREAT time with us

I got a rare chance to go out alone tonight and meet up with some friends and former coworkers. When I arrived home, the girls were in bed.
J and I visited for a moment and he reported on the evening's events...
food consumed, games played, bedtime achieved.

A few moments later, I shifted positions and pulled an alphabet block out from under my foot.

Photobucket

J sees it and says...

"Oh yeah. I found a block in Roo's sweatshirt when I was changing her into her pajamas. "

I laughed.

And he added...

"But that one [gesturing to the letter T], that one was in her pants."

*edited to add: Do you see what letter is also on letter T block?

Every Man For Himself

Today at the library. When the girls realized there were computers
behind the kid's reading area. No, they're not hugging.

Hindsight

It was a long day with phone calls regarding moving details, psuedo-triplets and fussies after lights out.

So, reflect with me, now.

Remember the old days when they didn't run away from you? Didn't make a mess outside of their diapers or bibs? Stayed where you put them? Helped each other hang on to their important bits and pieces
(instead of yanking them out of said mouths and hands)?

Photobucket

Also now remembering said "old days" where they woke up every 2-3 hours wanting to eat.

Disregard all of the above.

We're living the high life right now, actually.

Hats are OFF to the Triplet Moms

Our sweet friend, Miss Blythe, had a hard day in the ER trying to get re-hydrated after being t-boned by a nasty nasty virus. So, the girls' bff, Chloe, spent the day hanging out here with us. She was, as always, an angel.
The girls were wonderful, too.

Here Roo and Chloe playing sweetly side by side.

And here are Em and Chloe waiting patiently for dinner to be set on the table.
(Notice the living room floor behind them.)

The girls sang songs and ate grapes for dessert like they were going out of style. They all helped clean up the mayhem. Sort of. Chloe did lead us in song.

Clean up. Clean up. Everybody Everywhere...
Ver' Cute.

Bedtime was a little tricky, but it all worked out.

Chloe is home with her daddy now. And Miss Blythe is bunking at the hospital overnight for observation :( Say some prayers for her, please. She's the "cutie" in the picture taken below.

Thinking of Becky

Aunt Becky finds out if the Rowdy Girls are getting a She or (another) He Cousin on February 13.

I am SO excited to find out. So much so that I have actually purchased a baby gift in each gender. Just in case. Hurry up and find out already!

And to reminisce and get an idea of what she'll see on Feb. 13th, here is my favorite ultrasound picture. The girls were 18 weeks here and Em appears to be kissing Roo on the forehead. Love it!

Secret Hideout with Daddy

Letterlicious

Watch carefully as Roo teaches you the letters X, J, W and K. She also makes a fairly passible attempt at saying "W".

Bottoms Up

A fun morning with a former co-worker and his girls at Ready, Set, Play.
