Roo slipped on a tiny plastic dress-up bracelet. Banana-peel style. She was up and then she was down. And she cried a few moments. Then, got back up and hobbled. It was worrisome, but not overly so.
The next morning she was limping when she climbed out of bed. It didn't get better. J and I spent the morning on the phone with the nurse, then the on-call doctor and finally the registration and appointment center at a local clinic. One with weekend hours and an in-house radiology center. The emergency room in flu season seemed to be something to avoid.
After a long afternoon, the doctor told us that there might possibly maybe be a fracture in Roo's fifth metatarsal. She sent us home and promised to call after the radiologist reviewed the films.
We got that call this morning. No discernible break. Praise the Lord!
Roo has to wear a hard-soled shoe for two weeks and we're to keep her off her feet as much as possible. If, in two weeks, she still appears to have pain or be favoring the foot, we'll go back for more x-rays. They would look for new bone growth to indicate the presence of amissed fracture.

First thing that came to mind was Ps. 91:11. "He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. They will lift you up in their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone."
I believe that His angels guarded her from a fracture!
