RIP Foofa, 4/09-2/10

It happened 2 days ago and only took a moment.

Roo was playing with her favorite toys, the Sesame Street and Yo Gabba Gabba dolls. They were circled up for a game of duck duck goose when nature called. Roo made a quick trip to the potty and while she was gone, Mo-the-dog moved in.

She was fast. Mo picked Foofa out of the circle, carried her off to the guest room and...

...well, at least it happened quickly. But the carnage was complete.

There was no chance of recovery.

Foofa was gone.

We didn't leave the evidence behind, instead chose to lay Foofa to rest in a private ceremony.

Then, we told Roo. She cried big crocodile tears and broke our hearts.

To help ease the loss, we promised Roo that Foofa's twin sister could come to live with us.

So, today, the whole family piled in the car and headed to Super Target, the former home of Foofa. Roo was very definitive about why we were going there.

"To get Foofa and bring her home."

But, there was no Foofa anywhere in the store. This was not good.

J saved the day when he spotted the last two Sesame Street dolls, The Count and a turquoise colored Honker that Roo decided was Rosita. She was soooo proud of those dolls and played with them all throughout the remainder of the grocery shopping. We thought we had turned the corner and were in the clear.

Then, as we neared check-out, I overheard Roo telling The Count, "Roo's mama looked and looked and looked, but she could not find Foofa."

Oh.My.Goodness.

"So, she decided to look harder."

(Have you read Knuffle Bunny? Roo has. And she was paraphrasing it. The Daddy looks for the lost bunny. And finds it. And they all lived happily ever after.)

Roo looked at me and then said, "We will find Foofa and bring her home?"

Yes, Roo, yes.

Mama is going to the biggest store in the world, the InterWeb, and will find Foofa. Don't worry.
