Mother's Day

It's been an amazing Mother's Day for me.

The girls were sooooo excited to celebrate this day and had special gifts, made secretly at school.

And to really make the day special, Roo placed all her favorite dolls just so, facing my bedroom so that they could all wish me a happy Mother's Day.

Before church, we took our annual photo. The girls are bellowing HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

After church, J and the girls made a "brunch tea party".

It was fabulous and the girls were absolutely charming.

It's been a day to cherish. I am so thankful to be celebrating my sixth Mother's Day with these gorgeous creatures who call me Mama.

P.S. Did J kill it or what?! Lovely pink tulips, red roses (not pictured), homemade waffles, mimosas, pretty presents and an afternoon to laze around and read a book. Blessed!

Em's lens

Em's been taking pictures lately. I love reviewing her day through her lens.

Em drafted this doll house daddy into the role of Prince Charming.

He's Cinderella's true love because they match.

A Christmas Carol

Our favorite theater offered up a performance of A Christmas Carol. It was fabulous and just the right level for the house full of 3-8 year olds that sat wide eyed with wonder.

At the conclusion, the cast takes a seat on the stage and signs autographs. Usually the girls pass on this opportunity. But today, they wanted to meet the players!

Em waited patiently for a chance to talk to Tiny Tim. She didn't want to sit down and have her picture made, but she made sure to show off her blue fingernail polish and also to invite Tiny Tim to play at our home.

Roo wanted to meet Mr. Scrooge. She had a shy moment when it came time to get close, but still had a tiny conversation with him.

Next up, a walk to the Capital to attempt some Christmas card photos.

There's so much to explore on the way.

And this was all before noon! Hungry set in. We barely made it to our favorite diner before the grumps landed. Coloring always helps distract from growly tummies while the pancakes cooked.

A lovely day it was.

it's better that she knows now

The girls had 'meet the teacher' day at preschool. Ms. Laura requested that the school supplies be delivered at this time.

On the list, along with the rest mat, change of clothes and assorted paperwork, was a family photo. We haven't taken one since Easter.

So, we did a family photo booth session.

The girls chose Photo 3 as the 'take to school' picture.

I think we made an impression today at the meet and greet.

the action setting is paying off

I grow more thankful each day for the action setting on my camera.

The RGs never stop moving.

My photography strategy these days is to first make sure the camera is on the sports setting, point the camera at the girls, hold down the shutter and sift through the hundreds of photos on the other side.

This entire series of photos took place in approximately 10 seconds.

As the 3rd birthday draws closer, I'm compelled to look back on where we've been. Here are Em's and Roo's monthly photo shoots up to 14 months. That would have been the point when it became completely impossible to keep them together in one place long enough to take a picture.

1 month old and just home from the NICU

2 months old and finally fitting into the newborn sized frog jammies

3 months old and just now getting around to a birth announcement photograph

4 months old and working hard to hold up those heads!

5 months old and totally interested in the camera

6 months old and laughing with ease

7 months old and this picture took at least 5 attempts... hello rolly polly!


8 months old... Merry Christmas!
