does she remember?
Tonight I was singing a few songs that I used to hum or sing before Em and Roo were born. Em hopped up and ran to me. She curled into a ball and laid her head on my tummy and listened to me sing with her ear against my hip bone.
Three and a half years ago she resided there for several months, head down, in that same position, on that same right side. When I finished singing, she jumped up nuzzled against my chest and then ran back to the window seat.
It's funny, but now that I think about it, Roo most enjoys snuggling tucked into my left side, head up. And when the girls roll around in bed together, they usually, unconsciously, resume their in-utero positions. Head to foot, facing inward towards each other. Kicking, laughing, rolling, playing.
Maybe it's time to pull out the ultrasound footage and see what they have to say about it.

there once was a little girl...
Once upon a time there was a little girl who liked popsicles.

Alot.

She also liked banana muffins.
The kind with tiny chocolate chips baked into them.
And that have chocolate sprinkles on the tops.
They made her really...
...really happy.

She also loved her Auntie.
She loved her so much, she wanted to climb up in her lap and give her a big popsicley banana-chocolatey hug and kiss.
Auntie and Sissy had enough popsicley-chocolatey love
and turned the hose on the little girl.
The End.

where we belong
Last weekend we took a trip to the McGrandparent home and also paid a visit to their local zoo. It was a pretty day and there were plenty of people around to corral, catch, chase and entertain Em and Roo... The McGrandparents, Aunt Kaki, and a dear friend plus her 4 children.
I highly recommend public outings with an entourage of adults.
Funny thing, though, only the Rowdy Girls had to be corralled. Dear Friend's 4 children were stuck like glue to their mama and never had to be chased down, reprimanded or timed-out.

Sweet Berry Farmers
Our playgroup went blackberry picking this week. This was a first for the RGs. Daddy was able to come with us, too.
Em ate at least a pound of blackberries (and strawberries) straight off the vine. She also insisted on carrying the basket the entire time. Very important work.
Roo asked me several times if we were camping again.
J was a berry picking machine and moved down the row quickly. Em and I lagged behind and Roo traveled back and forth between us. I noticed that it was taking Roo an extraordinarily long time to complete her trip. She would make it about half way, then turn around and go back to J, then start over. He said she was snitching blackberries from his basket and would finish eating them before she made the trip to my end of the row. So, she'd return for another snack, finish it midway, and start over again. I think it took her half an hour to make the entire trip.

Once our baskets were full of strawberries, blackberries, summer squash and yellow onions, we took a break. Homemade strawberry puree popsicles. The ultimate happysicles.

Em and Roo were enchanted by the tiny tractor. In pink. Adorable.

And we finished out our trip putting our face in the ladybug's spots and taking pictures.

A berry delicious day.

coloring outside the lines
This morning was yellow. Sunny yellow after an early morning storm. The girls were shiny and we jetted out the door early to an appointment for Roo and a Starbucks date for Em and Mommy.
Yellow flared to red. Tempers were spiking as the morning bled into afternoon. Tantrums were thrown. Voices were raised. Naps were needed.
White flags of surrender were flown when Roo refused her nap. Moving on.
Orange in the early evening. And red and black. Red goes on the positive side of the car battery. Black goes on the negative side. Orange is for the light on your dash that finally comes on. And for the headlights that were left on when the Rowdy Girls pretended they were driving your car this morning after you arrived home.
Green is for go...going to pick up Daddy. And green grass at the park where we picnicked and visited and rocked.

Pink little Rowdy Girls dancing and giggling and staying up late. And 'I spying' the hot pink and white toy poodle. They pointed and yelled "pink and white dog!!!" over and over.
Blues were sung beautifully by Ruthie Foster. Daddy and Em danced under the stars to her amazing music.

A treat. Followed by another...
Brown root beer floats. On the way home. Tonight was get-em-free-night at Sonic.
And now, it all fades to the black of midnight.
